Bidhannagar Mayor Krishna Chakraborty resigns, another massive blow to TMC
A fire broke out late Wednesday night at the Forest Department quarters located in Darjeeling’s Kakjhora area. The structure, made entirely of wood, caught fire and was engulfed in flames within minutes. The reason for the fire has not been officially confirmed yet. Local sources reported that strong winds contributed to the rapid spread of the fire.
Following the alert, two fire engines from the Darjeeling fire station reached the site and began operations to control the blaze. The fire reportedly spread to nearby areas due to wind, making it difficult for fire personnel to contain it quickly. There were no injuries reported in the incident, and firefighting efforts continued until the flames were brought under control.
According to a forest department official, initial assessment indicates that important documents and furniture were damaged in the fire. The administration has launched an investigation to determine the cause and assess the full extent of the loss.
